Years 3 and 4
Welcome
This is where children from years 3 and 4 have the opportunity to learn together and develop a sense of community over the course of their Key Stage 2 journey in Class 2.
In year 3 and 4 we recognise that children are moving from being the younger members of the school and that this is an exciting time for them, with a world of opportunities. We provide our children with the opportunity to grow as individuals both academically and socially and encourage them to develop as independent, creative, enthusiastic and thoughtful young people with strong morals and a thirst for learning. The children are supportive of each other and thrive working in a mixed age environment.
Learning in years 3 and 4 is lead by Mr Beadle and supported by Mrs Jordan, our fantastic HLTA. This allows flexibility to teach age groups as required and gives us the opportunity to further enhance our quality first teaching by working with small class sizes.
For Maths years 3 and 4 generally work separately to years 5 and 6, while for English, particularly writing, all of the children tend to work together. This is an amazing opportunity to for children in years 3 and 4 to really engage with the older peers and benefit from their ideas and prior learning.
Our foundation subjects are block taught and years 3 and 4 follow the Rise trust lower key stage 2 curriculum on a 2 yearly rolling programme. This includes learning Science, History, Geography, Art, DT, Music, French and Computing. All of the school have access to a range of technology to support their learning, including IPads, laptops and a fully equipped computer suit.
We also love making use of the school hall and outdoor space to extend our learning, for example Forest School activities, dance, sports and drama. We love performing on our stage and helping with assemblies.
We are all great friends and enjoy our time together very much.
What our children say
‘’The teachers are awesome and they will give you full support in everything you do as well as the many resources that they give you.’’ Louie
‘’All of the teachers are really funny, friendly and supportive and work extremely hard to make every single lesson as fun as it can possibly be. My favourite lessons are Art, English, PSHE and Environmental work. When I joined the school, I was really nervous but then everyone welcomed me and I made loads of friends. I will really miss everyone here when I leave for high school. They’ve done absolutely amazing this year and I’m really happy and proud to have such brilliant teachers and friends.’’ Amy
“I like being in this class because the teachers are really kind, funny, supportive and have helped me learn lots. The work is challenging and fun at the same time.” Elliot
‘’I like to do maths, English and playing with my friends and having food.’’ Fletcher
‘’I like that the teachers always challenge me in maths and English.’’ Oliver
“I like being here because we do lots of good writing and we do fun things with space.” Lucas

Our classroom is a great place to learn, especially as our teachers frequently change it to inspire us and develop our critical thinking
